Mathematica One-Liners
Volume 1, Issue 1
Summer 1990
Edited by Paul C. Abbott
This column introduces some short, often one-line, programs. By combining
a few Mathematica commands into a simple procedure, one can construct
elegant tools for solving problems, experimentation or just plain amusement.
Readers are encouraged to contribute examples that they have constructed,
along with sufficient explanatory text.
Topics:
Generate an n x n Hilbert matrix
Characteristic polynomials
Roots of a polynomial in the complex plane
Pi via the fixed point of Newton iteration
