Code and Pseudo Code

Volume 6, Issue 2
Spring 1996
Ilan Vardi, Macalester College

This article illustrates how a computer language like Mathematica, which incorporates symbolic computation and mathematical notation, can be used to write high-level descriptions of mathematical algorithms. Several examples are given, including a simplification of a little-known algorithm of R.W. Gosper to implement continued-fractions arithmetic.
