The Mathematica Programmer
Long Integers: Basis Arithmetic and Data Types
Volume 6, Issue 2
Spring 1996
Roman E. Maeder
Long-integer arithmetic is a fundamental part of symbolic computation.
This article introduces the fundamentals of long-integer calculations by
implementing a prototype system in Mathematica. Our code is strictly
procedural and could be translated into C or assembler easily. The tools
needed are arrays that behave like arrays in procedural languages, as well
as tools for software testing and debugging.
