may include electronic documents associated with material in the The
Mathematica Journal. Online subscriptions contain Mathematica®
programs that can be downloaded and executed with versions of Mathematica on any
computer system.
Except where indicated, electronic files in The Mathematica Journal
are of two types:
- 1. Mathematica packages containing Mathematica source code, which can
be read directly into any version of Mathematica using <<filename, and
- 2. Mathematica Notebooks containing text mixed with Mathematica source
code, intended primarily for use with the Mathematica Notebook front end.
Both types of files contain only printable ASCII characters, and can thus be
transferred and stored on any computer system. Notebooks contain text and Mathematica
source code, together with formatting directives. Source code distributed is intended for
use with the Mathematica Version 3.0.
SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT
Please read this notice carefully. In subscribing to (or otherwise reading and using)
the online version of The Mathematica Journal, you are
agreeing to the terms of this Software License Agreement. As a subscriber to The Mathematica Journal, you are hereby granted a revocable,
nonexclusive license to use the software published by The Mathematica
Journal for your personal use, but you may not use it, directly or indirectly,
alone or as part of a larger program, in whole or in part, by transferring it, reselling
it or licensing it to others for compensation except for the actual cost of making the
physical copy and transfer.
- The following are conditions of this license:
- 1. You may modify your copy of the software, but you must include in each modified file
a prominent notice stating that you did modify it, and the date modified. You must license
your modified version to third parties under the terms of this license, whether your
version stands alone or is part of another program, free of charge except for the actual
cost of making the physical copy and transfer, and you must provide licensee a copy of
this License.
- 2. You agree to include the following credit and copyright notice on the label and first
screen of each copy you make: "This program was published in The
Mathematica Journal © 19__." The year
indicated shall be the same as that appearing on site of The
Mathematica Journal and the article you are using. Any prohibited use shall
immediately terminate this license and is an infringement of the copyright in the program.

("WRI") of Champaign, Illinois, and the author of the programs subject to this
license do not make any warranty or representation, either express or implied, with
respect to those programs, their quality, performance, merchantability, or fitness for any
particular purposes. The programs are licensed "as is," and the licensee assumes
all risk as to their quality and performance. The Mathematica Journal,
WRI, and/or the author of the program subject to this license shall not be liable for any
direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from any defect
in the program, even if they have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Some
states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of implied warranties or liability for
incidental or consequential damages, so the above exclusion or limitation may not apply to
you.
- 4. You may copy or distribute the programs subject to this license (or portions of them,
or programs derived from them), in object code or executable form under the conditions
stated in 1, 2, and 3 above, if you also adhere to one of the following:
- a) accompany the program with the complete corresponding machine readable source code
that you must distribute under the terms of 1, 2, and 3 above. In lieu of this, you may
offer in writing to send the source code free, except for nominal shipping charges, for a
