Summary

Quantum computation offers wildly exciting possibilities from both a hardware and, perhaps more importantly, algorithmic implementation point of view. In an exciting Nature article [6], Seth Lloyd probes the ultimate limits of laptop computing from a physical standpoint. Hopefully, on the way to this theoretical cul-de-sac we will solve the implementation barriers between us and a truly usable quantum computer. Just like my fantasy of F-16 flight and reckless bus driving, and until I can get a few fluorine atoms to cooperate, we can all still take some solace in a simulator.
