Mathematica has been used as an environment for object modeling a new chemical-pulping process. The usability of Mathematica has been enhanced by integrating it into an Information System (IS) supporting chemical process development. The implementation of IS is based on a new phenomenon-driven process-design methodology. The integration into the IS results in an easy way to change and give process structures to Mathematica, and makes Mathematica an attractive alternative compared to commercial simulators.
